The Ferrari and The Paintbrush

I read a book called "Taste Berries for Teens". It is a book bursting of stories that are inspirational in a way. In the first two chapters it had an intro. One was called The Paintbrush and one was called Ferrari. Yes Ferrari is a car; allow me to explain. Those literary pieces were inspiring to me. They talked about being different and being you.

The Paintbrush

I keep my paintbrush with me, wherever I go,
In case I need to cover up, so the real me doesn't show.
I'm so afraid to show you me; afraid of what you'll do,
I'm afraid you'll laugh or say mean things; afraid I might lose you.
I'dlike to remove all the layers, to show you the real, true me,
But I want you to try to understand; I need you to like what you
see.
So if you'll be patient and close your eyes, I'll remove the coats
real slow,
Please understand how much it hurts, tolet the real me show.
Now that my coats are all stripped off, I feel naked, bare and
cold,
And if you still find me pleasing, you are my friend, pure as
gold.
I need to save my paintbrush though, and hold it in my hand,
I need it keep it handy in case someone doesn't understand.
So please protect me, my dear friend, and thanks for loving me
true,
And please let me keep my painbrush with me, until I love me,
too.

Ferrari, Anyone? Huh? Do Yah?

A young boy came home crying from school one day. His grandfather was visiting and greeted him.
"Why are you crying?" his grandfather asked.
"Because Paul called me a sissy! Dp you think I'm a sissy, Grandpa?"
"Oh no," said his grandfather. "I think you're a Ferrari."
"A car?" said the boy, trying to make sense of what his grandfather had said.
"Well, if you believe that just because Paul called you a sissy that you really are one, you might as well believe your're a car, and a terrific one at that," explained the grandfather, asking, "Why be a sissy when you can be a Ferrari?"
"Oh! That's cool, Grandpa!" the boy exclaimed, now realizing that he got to have a say in how he felt about himself.
"Yes, it is," replied his grandfather. "The opinion you have of yourself should not only count as much as anyone's-but even more."

Rose Syrup

This beverage is real good for your skin :)
[It makes around 1 1/2 cups]
A: 2 cups of water, 1 1/3 cups of sugar, 4 tablespoons red rose petals, a dash of lemon
B: 1/2 cup ginger, 1 1/2 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 1/3 stick vanilla beans, 1 lemon, some club soda

step 1- first you use the ingredients in group a. put the water in a saucepan and heat it. when it boils, put the petals in and take it off the heat. cover the pan and steam for 8 minutes.
step 2- take the petals and water from step 1 and drain out the water into another pan. add sugar and lemon juice and put it over heat. simmer over medium heat until the syrup becomes dense and you end up with one cup of liquid.
step 3- now we will use the ingredients in the B group. wash the ginger and peel outer skin. peel think slices and put it aside. for the vanilla beans, take a knife and remove the beans from the stick. in a small saucepan, put water, sugar, sliced ginger, and the vanilla beans and simmer for 20 minutes over medium heat. when the ginger becomes transparent (practically see through)and the water evaporates to about half of the original amount, it's done. add lemon juice. [ask an adult for help with this step if you need help! don't be a lone ranger on this step. it could be difficult some way or the other.]
step 4- mix the liquid from step 2 and 3 and the syru is complete. if you put it in a container and keep it in the refrigerator, it will last for about two weeks.
step 5- put ice in a glass and pour club soda in it, then add 3 tablespoons of syrup and stir.

Plumb is a really good artist. I find pleasure in listening to all her songs. As I was saying, Plumb is talented. Her songs all have meaning :) Not meeting a girl somewhere and loving here for her appearance and her being bratty and spoiled and sinful. Plumb is a sweet as a plum. whenever i get a chance i will ask dad for a plum or white (with sparkle) Nixon 2000 (was it 2000 or some other numbers?) camera. i will paste a picture of it here someday. mom's camera records so maybe most camera's do.
